The Texas Hill Country, 37,000 square miles of mostly ranch land, elevations range from around 600 feet to just over 3,000 feet above sea level -- not mountains, perhaps, but noteworthy uplifts none the less, especially when you consider how far these hills roll.

Had never been to Texas until April 2008. One visit is all it took to convince me to make it my home for the rest of my life. Love the seasons, Summer, Summer, Summer, Winter. No income tax, good economy, low unemployment. Beats Illinois all to hell. A great place to retire!
